Writing Your First Prompts: Subject, Style, Detail
A strong image prompt is not a magic incantation; it is a clear description with the right parts in place. The most reliable structure names the subject, the action or context, the style or medium, and a few specific details. Get those four right and you are most of the way to a usable image.
The four parts
prompt structure
[subject] doing [action] in [context],
[style / medium], [key details: lighting, mood, lens]
Example:
A fox curled asleep in a snowy pine forest at dawn,
soft watercolor illustration, cool blue light, gentle mistSentences over tag soup
Newer image models read full descriptive sentences better than long lists of comma-separated tags. Describe the scene the way you would to a person, then add specifics. Save the keyword piles for older models that expect them.
Change one thing at a time when you iterate. If you swap the subject, the lighting, and the style all at once, you cannot tell which change helped. Isolate variables and you learn what each word actually does.
